I am starting to realize that I always talk about how to stay healthy and work out, and all of those things, but I never really talk about the real issue. I think it is mainly because I still struggle with this everyday, and I think most people, men and women, do also.
In society, we focus so much on how to fix ourselves that we never give ourselves a chance to see the good. The pressure to be perfect is so high that we forget that how we look isn’t the only thing that is important. So today I’m doing something that I never do. I’m writing a list of all the things that I love about myself, and I suggest you do the same.
1. I’m strong willed and opinionated
2. I’m so blessed. Seriously, my life is so good compared to so many others that struggle everyday.
3. I’m an extremely hard worker. Some would say I have OCD.
4. I truly care about helping others. It really is one of my life passions.
5. I always find the silver lining. No matter what is going on.
6. I have great hair. (Okay, sorry, I had to put at least one vain thing in here)
7. I’m a dreamer, and I hope to have all that I wish for someday. It’s the one thing that keeps me so driven.
8. I never quit. Even if it means I fall a few times.
9. I’m real. I seriously cannot be fake to save my life. I don’t know how people can fake such extreme joy for things that hate. I could never be a salesmen.
10. No matter what society or anyone says, I’m beautiful. Inside and out.
It’s over a week into the new year now, and that means it’s time to get healthy! Here are my tips to staying fit during the new year:
1. DON’T make resolutions!
Seriously, no one ever sticks to new years resolutions because they are always so farfetched that no one can ever achieve them. If anything, make a small goal and try to stick with that. Telling yourself you’re going to lose fifty pounds in a month will only stress you out!
2. DON’T give yourself off days.
Okay, I know this sounds absolutely ridiculous, but whenever I tell myself I can be lazy on certain days, I always get really busy on the other days of the week, and never end up working out. If I plan to workout everyday then even if I get busy and don’t have a chance to some days it doesn’t matter because I am still working out the whole rest of the week.
3. DO stay positive!
No more constantly stepping on the scale! I don’t even own a scale because it wreaks havoc on my progress. Work out and eat healthy to feel good, and have energy. With the wrong motives, you’ll lose motivation real quick.
4. DO let yourself eat!
I remember trying to use those calorie counting apps on my phone for the longest times and I was always STARVING. I finally came to realize that my body really did need more food. As long as its healthy and you’re not eating just because you’re bored, you should probably eat something.
What are your ways of staying in shape for the new year?
PS: Shipment one of my New Year Cheer items came in! Beyond excited!
Ahhh I know ya’ll have probably gotten your fair share of Lilly after last week’s sale, but Rue La La just put up Lilly today on their site! The deals aren’t as good as the New Year Cheer Sale, but there are some things up there that weren’t on the Lilly Sites sale! Check it out!
Normally, I don’t post twice in one day, but this is a special occasion. Today started the Lilly Pulitzer New Year Cheer Clearance Sale. Everything is ridiculously discounted, meaning I can actually afford it. That being said, I woke up at 5 am this morning (sale started 8 am ET, I am not on the east coast, so I had to wake up at the butt crack of dawn. What can I say, I’m dedicated.), but I got some amazing deals!
In this day and age being polite has become one of those things that people really don’t think about anymore, but being polite is such an important part of society. Without the simple rules of etiquette, people lose all sense of common decency. Trust me, I work in the food industry, I’ve seen it firsthand.
The simplest form of etiquette that most people overlook is just sitting properly. I’ve seen so many girls that sit legs open like a football player, and it is so atrocious! It’s so simple to cross your legs, and it instantly makes a girl look nicer and more put together.
Even I have trouble with this one. Sitting up straight not only helps you pay attention better, but it’s good for your spine!
Okay. Yes, everyone has moments where you let a word or two slip, but girls who use foul language as often as the word ‘the’ lose all respect from me! I used to have a problem with this, but I’m working on it (New Years resolution…?).
With everything being turned into finger food nowadays it’s so hard to eat politely, I really try to use a fork and knife as much as possible, and I’ve even become great with chopsticks (they’re a lot easier than you’d think!)
5. JUST BE NICE!
It’s such an overlooked thing to just be nice for no reason. Open a door for someone, use please and thank you, pay for someone’s drink at Starbucks, you never know how much your little gesture could impact someone’s day.
What’s the worst thing you’ve ever seen someone do?
Although my New Years was less than exciting, I am still recovering from a witch of a cold, so I am spending my day relaxing. Here’s what I’m up to while recuperating:
Going through pictures from the photo shoot
I finally got all of the pics back from our photo shoot! So, as promised, here’s the rest of them;
I can’t wait to print them out.
Oh, and I’ve been Spending far too much time on my couch on pinterest. It’s all for good reason though, because I am finally going to start my DIY projects for my new room in my apartment. I cannot wait to start… after I lay on my couch like a lazy butt all day.
Okay so I’m totally not the kind of girl who’s in love with taking pictures of herself at all, but I had a photo shoot with my best friends from home this week and I don’t think I’ve had so much fun doing something like this before. Between freezing our booties off and scaring every cow that came within a 100 foot range of us, it was definitely an exciting day! I don’t have all the pics yet but here’s a sneak peak of what’s to come..
Thats about as close as the cows would come to us. They were terrified! Haha
Years and years of friendship shown perfectly in one picture.
Hello all! Hope you’re all having as fabulous of a break as I am! For Christmas Eve I always dress up to go out and see my family. This year I finally decided to try a shift dress. Here’s what I’ll be wearing tomorrow:
It’s all from Francesca’s Collection except for the shoes, they’re Steve Madden. We go from family members house to family members house, so there’s a lot of walking, moving around, and carrying gifts involved, so heels are not an option. I chose so crocodile patent flats that I adore! I’ll post a photo to insta (@clarissairaci) tomorrow hopefully of what it looks like on. Have a great holiday, loves!
Hello, loves! Sorry for being so inconsistent with posts. I’ve had finals, so I’ve been insanely busy. Now that I’m out of school, I’ll be posting weekly.
Here are my favorite things as of lately:
Baking these adorable melted snowman cookies. I almost didn’t even want to eat them they were so presh! So much fun to make.
It’s finally winter! I am definitely heading up to Julian soon, and inhaling an entire pie… Or two.
Ahhhhh! I love Christmas season! Likeee I’m really upset that it’s almost over. Why does school get out so close to Christmas? I NEED MORE TIME. Finals get in the way of Christmas season. It’s like the annoying younger sibling that tags along everywhere when you’re just trying to have fun. Sigh.
Merry Christmas, loves!
