Staying Healthy On A College Budget

Hello, loves! I hope you’re all having a fabulous Monday! With the start of the new week brings the weekly errands. I go grocery shopping once a week, and you don’t realize how expensive food is until you actually have to buy it. Here are some tips on how to stay healthy on a college budget:

1. Always plan out your meals for the week.
I know this sounds like a lot of extra work, but it really does help with keeping your budget on track and eating healthy! If you don’t already know what you’re going to eat for the week you have more of a chance of eating fast food because you don’t have time to make anything or the items needed for it.

2. Make a list!
I make a list every week of exactly what I need from the store. I got my list organization from Undressed Skeletons blog. She has some amazing tips about health and fitness! Her grocery list helps keep me from overspending so I know exactly what I need from the store every week. (See above picture for example)

3. DON’T GO SHOPPING WHILE YOU’RE HUNGRY
This is so important! I always end up buying unhealthy snacks and candy if I’m hungry when I go to the store. Eat a meal right before you go so you don’t have to worry about hunger striking while shopping!

4. Stay on the outside of the grocery store
Most of the more unhealthy items are on the middle isles of the store. Staying on the outside will keep you from buying those Doritos, and will save you money!

5. Go to the gym before you go shopping

I always try to go to the gym before I go shopping for groceries because I am always motivated to eat healthy right after a good workout. This way you won’t be tempted to buy anything unhealthy.

What are your favorite ways to stay healthy on a budget?
